Section contains a collection of both classic and modern Challenger T/A information.
In 1970 Dodge offered Challenger buyers the limited-edition T/A (Trans Am) model. Only produced in 1970, the street version featured a 340 Six Pack engine with three two-barrel carburetors on a aluminum intake manifold. Options included a TorqueFlite automatic transmission or a pistol-grip Hurst-shifted four-speed, 3.55:1 or 3.90:1 gears in the rear, as well as manual or power steering. Also included was a low-restriction dual exhaust system with chrome tipped “megaphone” outlets exiting in front of the rear wheels.
On the outside the Challenger T/A featured a matte-black fiberglass hood a large air scoop and hood pins. Front disc brakes were standard and the Rallye suspension used heavy duty parts and increased rate of the rear springs. The body featured dual side T/A stripes, a fiberglass rear spoiler, and a fiberglass front spoiler. The interior was identical to other 1970 Challengers.
